Assessors are constantly evaluating the quality of their faith against their own set of guidelines, personal experience and common sense.

Assessors rate themselves by using their own guidelines. Their personally developed belief system helps them discern how to live. They proclaim, ‘I can think for myself.’
Assessors are at a stage where they accept more ownership of their faith journey. They are gaining more maturity in faith. They achieve this by rejecting some parts of their earlier understanding of faith while affirming others. The way Assessors do this is by questioning their own assumptions regarding the faith tradition they have embraced so far.
Assessors sometimes are at a highly critical stage of their faith journey. They evaluate all faith claims against personal experience, ‘common sense’ and rational and scientific criteria. Assessors draw authority from within. They become more critical in their approach to life and faith and the outlook of others. Assessors love courses, material, books and discussions that help them determine what it means to live authentically. They use these insights to measure their own faith against the newly discovered criteria.
Assessors therefore often enrol in a long list of self-development courses. They want to spend time thinking about all the different aspects of their lives from a faith perspective. These aspects can range from health to relationships, from finance to creativity. The insights they gain help strengthen the principles they use to assess their own progress.
I have one desire now — to live a life of reckless abandon for the Lord, putting all my energy and strength into it. — Elisabeth Elliot
